Congratulations to the RHS Band members who have been selected by the Colleges and Universities listed below to participate in their Fall High School Honor Band:

UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS HS HONOR BAND  Saturday, October 30

Conductors:  Dr. Matthew George, Dr. Douglas Orzolek (U of St. Thomas Band Directors) and critically acclaimed composer Roger Cichy

• Brandon Chapman – Oboe
• Santiago Charry - Trumpet
• Megan Fitzgerald – Flute
• Erin Freiderich - Clarinet
• Claire Henningsgaard - Tuba
• Ellen Henningsgaard – Trombone
• Olivia Taylor - Clarinet

These students will present a concert along with the bands from University of St. Thomas, at 7:30 PM in the Brady Educational Center, on the campus of the University of St. Thomas. The concert is free and open to the public – and we highly encourage all RHS Band members to attend this impressive concert!

UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN – EAU CLAIRE HS HONOR BAND Saturday, November 6

Conductor:  Dr. Peter Haberman (UWEC Band Director):

• Ellen Henningsgaard – Trombone
• Josh Pratt – Tenor Saxophone

These students will present a concert along with the bands from University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, at 7 PM in the Haas Fine Arts Center Gantner Concert Hall, on the campus of University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. The concert is free and open to the public – and we highly encourage all RHS Band members to attend this impressive concert!

**RHS Alumni David Behm, Stefanie Berkopec, Sean Conway, Kyle Manley & Zac Tessling will be performing with the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire Band.

GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE HS HONOR BAND
Sunday, November 7 & Monday, November 8

Conductor:  Dr. Douglas Nimmo

• Michael Bruins – Baritone Saxophone
• Brandon Chapman – selected to be Principle Oboe
• Megan Fitzgerald – selected to be Principle Flute
• Erin Freiderich - Clarinet
• Kirsten Hoffman – selected to be Principle French Horn
• Olivia Taylor – Clarinet
• Kelley Werness – French Horn

Students will arrive on the campus of Gustavus at 3:45 PM Sunday, November 7, stay overnight at Gustavus, rehearse all day Monday, and then perform a concert with the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, Monday, November 8, 7:00 PM, in Christ Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

ST. OLAF COLLEGE HS HONOR BAND Saturday, November 13

Conductors:  Dr. Timothy Mahr and Dr. Paul Niemisto (St. Olaf College Band Directors, and gust conductor Dr. James Patrick Miller, Director of Bands at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst.

• Brandon Chapman – Oboe
• Megan Fitzgerald – Flute
• Olivia Taylor – Clarinet
• Kelsi Wright - Clarinet

There were over 300 student nominees, representing some of the finest instrumental music students in Minnesota. The 150 students chosen will rehearse throughout the day on November 13, and then present a concert along with the bands from St. Olaf College, at 4 PM in the St. Olaf Skoglund Auditorium, on the campus of St. Olaf College. The concert is free and open to the public – and we highly encourage all RHS Band members to attend this impressive concert!

**RHS Alumni Clara Jung & Anna Lehn will be performing with the St. Olaf Band.

Leah Reber  -  ITG Young Artist Award

Leah Reber has been recognized by the International Trumpet Guild with the ‘ITG Young Artist Award.’  She will be featured in a profile article in an upcoming issue of the International Trumpet Guild Journal.

The International Trumpet Guild will be presenting their 36th annual conference in Minneapolis, May 24-28, 2011.  This is an incredible opportunity for all Trumpet players to see & hear the best Trumpet artists in the world:
